Robert Lee Morris

In May of 2022, I was invited to Connecticut to visit legendary jewellery artist, Robert Lee Morris, in his studio. Stepping behind the scenes with NYC Jewelry Week co-founder, JB Jones, we had a one-of-a-kind experience as we wandered through Robert’s cathedral of creation, capturing unique and never before seen views.

Kodak & Polaroid

I believe a legend deserves to be immortalized in a physical medium, as a result I utilized my Polaroid SX-70 and Hasselblad 503CX with iconic Kodak Portra 800 and black and white polaroid film stock for this project.

It was important to capture Robert’s vision and atmosphere. Tightly curating the display of his work, Robert noted that the setup we previewed and photographed is as close as we can get to his gallery, Artwear, today.

Editorial

To parallel this photo series, I wrote an editorial about Robert’s spirit of invincibility and how he is scaling up his creations. Written for NYC Jewelry week’s digital publication, Future Heirloom, the editorial adds an additional perspective to this photo series, one that is not to be missed.
